Elaine Bounds, Val and Roger Thornhill, Chris and Helen Preston and Jane Scarfe braved the wind and the rain and duly trooped round as much of Whitlingham Broad as our RA permitted. A good time was had by all - Val was particularly taken by the baby swans - and then we adjourned, with some relief, to the tea shop.
Hethersett Lions were so impressed with Val Thornhill for giving it a go despite her health and mobility problems - Val's husband Roger is a member - that they donated a hugely generous £250 to Arthritis Care for the Amble. The rest of us managed to extract an additional £124.80 out of our long-suffering friends and family, making a total donation of £374.80.
